Quite unexpectedly I recently saw a white one in my old Shopware 5 shop.

But why?

I investigated this question and found it. Before that, I deleted subdomains that I no longer needed.

However, the main domain no longer worked after that. Why? That remains a mystery. In any case, the 1&1 Ionos team worked on the DNS settings and the main domain could be used again.D

Because of these changes, I had to set up the Ioncube again. Why? That also remains undetected. But whatever. I figured I could take this opportunity to switch from PHP 5.6 to 7.2 right away, which I did.

But hey… the browser page stayed white. Such a crap.

At first I didn't think about the PHP conversion and wrote to my helper at 1&1. He promptly replied as follows:

Unfortunately I couldn't find the error either, checked your htaccesses, config and database.

Therefore, it only remains for me to offer you our WordPress RepairService for EUR 70,00. Then colleagues from the WordPress expert team will restore your site.

Hmmm... WordPress? WTF! It doesn't matter... in the evening the enlightenment came. I changed the PHP version and also reset the file permissions. Curiously, these were also incorrect.

  • Directories on 755 and
  • files to 644

Et voila… the shop was up and running again. Hooray!
