The oleander, also called rose laurel, is the only species of the oleander plant genus within the dogbane family. All parts of the plant are poisonous. There are more than 200 varieties. The likewise poisonous Thevetia peruviana, the Pasqueflower, is known as the yellow, tropical or Caribbean oleander.
