The Prussian Academy of Sciences was a renowned scientific institution founded in Berlin in 1700 and played an important role in the development of science. Under the patronage of the Prussian kings, the academy promoted research and scientific exchange in various disciplines, including natural sciences, humanities and social sciences.

The academy hosted important scientists such as Albert Einstein, who was a member from 1914 to 1932. During the years of its existence, the Prussian Academy of Sciences made a significant contribution to scientific development and had a lasting influence on the intellectual landscape in German-speaking countries.

After the end of the Second World War and the fall of Nazi Germany, the academy was dissolved in 1946 and the German Academy of Sciences in Berlin was founded in the GDR, while the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences was founded in West Germany.
