Sainte-Marthe shaft September 2007

Sainte-Marthe shaft

This is the oldest headframe of the Brazier of Lorraine that can be visited, built between 1849 and 1852 in the style of pre-industrial architecture. It was used to mine coal. However, due to a heavy flood of water, this could no longer be realized. However, the water powered the machines of the forge in Wendel and later provided the community with drinking water.
